Be part of a visionary program transforming lives at the intersection of behavioral health and criminal justice.

Bridges of Colorado seeks applicants for an opening for a “lived experience” commissioner. As an integral member of the organization’s 11-member board established by SB 23-229 (see 13-95-104 on page 6 of legislation), the Lived Experience Commissioner provides support of the Bridges vision and mission to continue advancing Bridges as a national leader of programs at the intersection of behavioral health and criminal justice. Commissioners are appointed to serve three-year terms and meet quarterly. While Bridges Commissioners are not paid positions, the position will be reimbursed for time spent away from their primary employment to serve on the commission if that time is not paid by their employer.

Who Should Apply

Individuals who have a passion for the vision and mission of Bridges and who wish to support that work by serving on the commission. Applicants must be Colorado residents who have lived experience at the intersection of criminal justice and mental health. This position is open immediately and will remain open until filled.

What You Will Do

Work cooperatively with the director to provide guidance to the office; provide fiscal oversight of the general operating budget of the office; participate in funding decisions relating to the provision of program services; and assist with the duties of the office concerning Bridges program training and public outreach, as needed.

How to Apply

Email bridges@bridgesofcolorado.gov with your story and background regarding your lived experience in the criminal justice and mental health systems. Be sure to include why you’re interested in serving on the commission. Please also include a resume or summary of any relevant professional experience, if that also applies.
